This past Friday marked our last Pit Stop before the Red Carpit Bash. As usual, our Mavens came out to share pints and some much needed laughs after a long week. However, this week was a particularly special. We were fortunate to have Cat Birch join us. She is just one of the many brave women under-40 currently undergoing treatment that we hope to help with our campaign. As if she didn’t have enough on her plate, she is also a volunteer patient advocate with the Canadian Breast Cancer Network (CBCN) and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF). But that’s not all… she is also bringing Rethink Breast Cancer’s “Live Laugh Learn” support program to Ottawa.
Live, Laugh, Learn is a program that is run out of Lululemon stores after hours. A subject-matter expert comes to speak with the survivors. They can be anyone from an Oncologist to a make-up artist. The idea is to get together, learn and have some fun with other young survivors who know exactly what you have been through.
After meeting Cat and hearing her story, I am even more dedicated to helping out Rethink in their mission to support the under-40 demographic. To learn more about Cat’s story, read her blog and her post on the Rethink Breast Cancer blog.
Here are some of the shots from that night.
